Straight from the States, Slam is a great sports mag devoted to covering the sport favoured by the very, very tall – basketball and the NBA.

Every issue of this US mag covers American Basketball at every level, bringing you all the news, rumours and hype from college to NBA. It has an impressive roster of features, including interviews with established and rising stars, features and profiles of players and teams such as the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks, and coverage of the community and fanbase that makes the NBA what it is. Essential reading for any basketball fanatic.

Slam magazine brings you all the hype from the world of American basketball, and that is frankly an impressive amount of hype. In fact, we have a sneaking suspicion that basketball is a pretty big thing in America. The likes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron, Derrick Rose and Dirk Nowitzki regularly make the headlines, and it has arguably always been a sport where heroes are made. Whilst a team game in name, it is all about the individual performances when it comes down to it – after all, only one player has the ball at any one time, and it is up to them to make the best possible use of it.

Names like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson have dominated the sport in recent memory, suggesting that not only do you have to be impressively tall and incredibly good at basketball to become a legend of the sport, having a name or nickname that starts with M and J helps. Nevertheless a new era of heroes is being forged – and some of the stars will be those mentioned above.

So, to keep up to date with all the latest happenings (as long as there isn’t another lockout – something that seems frankly unbelievable to us here in the UK), a copy of Slam magazine is highly recommended. NB
