If there’s one thing that can bring everybody together, it is interior design. We’re not necessarily suggesting that interior design will bring about world peace (although, you never know…), simple that people are people everywhere, and the one thing pretty much all people have in common is that they live in a house. Therefore, they want their house to look good.
Homes & Interiors Scotland does a great job of bringing you the very best of interior design from a Scottish perspective, and, no surprise, it is pretty similar to what everybody else across the UK wants from their home. Bright, bold colours or muted tones, luxurious fittings or those that look great but suit the budget of those who can’t afford a £12,000 wardrobe (something genuinely featured in the May/June edition of this magazine), all are suitable whatever part of this island nation you are from. The same would be true if you cast your net further ashore, examining the French, German or Italian ideas of interior design. In fact, why not take inspiration from designs worldwide – if everybody did this maybe we would all understand each other’s worlds a little better. Thus, world peace. Well, maybe it’s a bit of a stretch, but you never know, stranger things have happened… NB
